The cycles adorned with Breast Cancer Now handlebars and Steve and Adam in their Breast Cancer Now tops, started the ride from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park following a 100 mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey’s stunning countryside and leg testing climbs. “Riding through the capital on closed roads was an amazing feeling. We left the Olympic Stadium and cycled into London, passing all the sights such as the Tower of London, Trafalgar Square and the Natural History Museum. We then left London through Richmond Park and into the Surry Hills. After a flat first 40 miles things started to get a bit more lumpy with the climbs of Leith Hill and the world famous Box Hill. The support from everyone on the side of the road was amazing though and before we knew it we were on a fast run back into London through Kingston upon Thames. As we rode along the embankment the crowds got bigger and bigger and the noise in Westminster, Trafalgar Square and along The Mall was brilliant. Crossing the finishing line in front of Buckingham Palace was an exhilarating experience and seeing my wife and two girls in the crowd on the Mall was something I will never forget.”

On the build up to the Ride London 100 event Steve also completed a four day cycle ride, 320 miles from Edinburgh to Dublin finishing at the iconic Guinness Brewery.

Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s largest breast cancer charity and dedicated to the funding of research. They believe that if we act now, by 2050, we will live in a world where every woman who develops breast cancer will live. “The only way this will become a reality is with research and every donation, no matter how small, takes us closer to an improved survival rate for women affected with breast cancer. The support I have received has been amazing and I thank everyone who has donated and given me encouragement. Research holds the key to stopping cancer - we can beat this!”

“Breast Cancer Now is a charity close to my mate Adams heart so riding for them and raising over £1500 between us really does mean something. Thank you to everyone who has donated”

Here at Autosmart we have been a proud supporter of Steve and Adam and have enjoyed watching their dedication and preparation for the event.
